Why Is My UColor Series Monitor Flickering, Auto Restarting, or Showing No Signal?Updated 2 months ago
The Reason
Device Does Not Support Full Feature USB-C to USB-C
If your device doesn't support Full Feature USB-C to USB-C, you might encounter the issues mentioned above, particularly the "No Signal" problem.
Incorrect Connection Order
For the UColor O2 Touch, connecting the HDMI cable or USB-A to USB-C first may lead to power or display issues, as the signal connection might cause insufficient power before the display is properly powered.
Missing PD Protocol Software in PD Chip
In a small number of UColor O2 units (less than 2%), the PD protocol software on the motherboard's PD chip may be lost, causing the 20V power supply to drop to 5V. This can result in issues like flickering, auto restarting, or no signal.
What Should I Do?
Connect in the Correct Order
To prevent power issues caused by connecting the signal source before the power cable, follow this correct connection sequence:
For USB-C to USB-C:
- Start by charging the display.
- Then, connect the USB-C to USB-C cable to send the signal.
For HDMI connection:
- First, connect the power cable to charge the display (the monitor will light up).
- Next, connect the HDMI cable.
- Finally, use the USB-A to USB-C cable (USB-A connects to the laptop, and USB-C connects to the monitor).
Ensure Device Supports Full Feature USB-C to USB-C
Make sure your device supports Full Feature USB-C for connecting to the display. If it does, but you're still facing issues, try swapping the connections for power and signal input between the two USB-C ports on the display. It's possible the cables are plugged into the wrong ports.
Brightness Adjustment
You can lower the brightness from 600 to 450 (below 70%). This way, even if the PD protocol isn't activated, the 5V power from the power supply will be enough to run the display normally. However, keep in mind that this might prevent you from using brightness levels above 70%.
Contact Customer Service for Return
If the above steps don’t solve the issue, or if you've confirmed that the problem is due to the loss of the PD protocol software on the motherboard's PD chip, feel free to reach out to customer service to request a return.
