Will the Battery Monitor and Laptop Charge Each Other?Updated 3 months ago

Typically, no. This is because the Full-featured USB-C port on the battery monitor cannot charge, whether connected to a power source or other devices. This is intentionally designed to prevent overloading the battery while reverse charging is active. However, if your devices meet certain conditions, the monitor may charge them in reverse.

What Causes Battery Monitors And Laptops to Charge Each Other?

The monitor can only charge the laptop when turns on the monitor's Reverse Charging Function. However, it depends on whether the laptop supports 5V power in, as most laptops require more than 5V power supply. Therefore, few laptops can be charged by a battery monitor. You can check your laptop's original charger to see if it mentions accepting a 5V voltage. If it does, the laptop will be able to receive reverse charging from the monitor.

A few battery models can be charged by laptops through USB-A to USB-C cable, by connecting from the laptop's USB-A port to the monitor's USB-C power port, like how a laptop charges a smartphone.

How to Prevent It?

As mentioned above, if you turn on the reverse charging, and your laptop can support the 5V voltage, the monitor may power your laptop by USB-A to USB-C cable or USB-C cable. In this case, you can turn off reverse charging. Generally, you can find your menu (Swipe down from the lower right corner with two fingers or hold the brightness up button to open it) and then the cancel⚡ icon or "Re-charge".
